Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment

We have to create a risk assessment before we begin to film our video. A risk assessment is an important step in protecting your workers and your business, as well as complying with the law. It helps you focus on the risks that really matter in a work place (in our case the location that we are filming at and the risks attached).

Park - Risks that could be identified whilst walking through a park are; The possibility of tripping over park equipment and injuring yourself. There is also a chance you could slip over on grass, rubbish, or if the weathers bad and its icy then you could fall badly.
To reduce the risk of any of the risks happening when walking through a park we could: Make sure that our character does not slip whilst walking through the park by not allowing them to walk on icy parts, or not film during it being icy.

Walking across road - The risks that are attached too walking across a road are; The chance you could get hit by a car and that Bicycles and other pedestrians may be around.
To reduce the risks of these two happening we will: Make sure that we take extra care when crossing the road, look both ways and ensure that no traffic is oncoming. The same goes for pedestrians and other cyclists, make sure that their is nothing coming before they go to cross the road.

School: Due to the ice, we need to be careful that we avoid icy areas so we do not slip over and hurt ourselves. We will choose areas which will have less ice to prevent this happening, or we may clear the ice or snow in the area chosen. Also we have to be careful of cars as there is a main road in the middle of the school, this presents a hazard to us as cars will constantly be driving through. To avoid any accidents we have to look-listen-look.

Electronic equipment- We need to be safe while using the electronic equipment. For example getting sockets wet presents a hazard of people getting electrocuted, to prevent this we will make sure any equipment is dry before using it.

Tripping over loose rocks- We need to be careful of rocks/stones that could potentially trip us up. If we are not, we could get injured through tripping up. To reduce the risk we are going to check the surrounding area for loose rocks /stones and remove them form the premises.
